Job Accountabilities:
Deliver, develop, deploy, implement, support, administer, monitor and control of IT Infrastructure and related back-end technology in a consistent, cost effective way to meet the business requirements of Venture companies and any agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) or Operating Level Agreements (OLAs).
The planning, implementation and control of IT Infrastructure and related back-end technology service provision. This includes negotiation, implementation and monitoring of service level agreements, and the ongoing management of operational facilities to provide the agreed levels of service, seeking continuously and proactively to improve service delivery.
Takes responsibility for the design, procurement, installation, upgrading, operation, control, maintenance and effective use of IT Hosting & Storage, System Services and Data Center Infrastructure components and monitors their performance, availability, continuity and capacity.
Supports Venture Hosting & Storage, System Services and DC/DR Infrastructure related contracts, projects & activities in cooperation with respective Team leads, other technical teams and suppliers.
Ensures that departmental key performance indicators (KPIs) are within specified limits. Monitors the integrity and confidentiality of information delivered to and sent by users, the levels of service performance such as throughput, availability and response time. Manages the timely and effective handling of enquiries and requests for guidance, or for investigation, diagnosis and resolution of problems.
Ensures projects running within IT Operations scope are strictly aligned with the Venture Project Management & reporting tools.
In collaboration with the team leader, implement and maintain documentation related to Venture ITSM Operations policies, strategies, business continuity plans, disaster recovery plans and all other required Venture ITSM Operations documentation.
Establishes systems and standards that ensure uniform quality, performance and efficiency of systems and environments.
Makes decisions that are critical in the areas of throughput analysis, problem solving, and infrastructure planning, with the potential to affect the successful execution of business transactions.
Manages various IT Operations projects intended to continually improve/upgrade the Venture Back-end infrastructure.
Provides technical management of IT operations, ensuring that agreed service levels are met and all relevant procedures are adhered to.
Schedules and supervises all maintenance and configuration works related to Hosting & Storage Infrastructure components.
Identifies and rectifies a broad range of operational exceptions and error conditions and deals sensibly & responsibly with unexpected or extraordinary events or incidents, as directed by Incident Management function. Where these actions necessitate modification, restriction or complete removal of resources or services available, communicates with users, specialists and others, using appropriate methods (e.g. single point of contact such as Service Desk, Situation Management), to inform and escalate if necessary.
Conducts investigations of operational problems, makes proposals for improvement and implement them when appropriate.
Drafts and maintains procedures and documentation for IT Infrastructure and related back-end technology support.
Recognizes when an IT network/system has been attacked, can take immediate action to limit damage and escalates event to higher authority.
Investigates and diagnoses complex IT Infrastructure problems, working with users, other staff and suppliers as appropriate. Resolves such problems, co-operating with the capacity management function, to maintain overall IT systems performance.
Provide analysis of resource allocation and availability if needed.
Follows the departmental policy, procedures and practices on matters such as security, health and safety, environmental controls, service facilities and media storage.
Carries out the full range of defined tasks associated with operating, monitoring and controlling the installed hardware and software. This may involve the use of multiple hardware and software platforms.
Participates in reviews of systems performance, provides advice, and assists specialists or other system or service providers to plan details of amendments and upgrades to systems.
Engages with the Venture ITSM Change Management process as required to ensure Infrastructure changes are presented in CAB, managed and controlled to minimize the impact, risk and probability of introducing unexpected results when implementing changes to the environment
Engages with the Venture ITSM Service Level Management process providing 2nd line support for Incidents escalated by the Service Desk teams to ensure speedy resolution of incidents.
Applies procedures, as directed by Venture ITSM Information Security Management, to enhance resilience to unauthorized access.
Engages with the Venture ITSM Configuration Management process as required to ensure Infrastructure CIs are managed in a way that complies with this process.
Carries out activities for the Venture ITSM Capacity Management process as required ensuring Venture ITSM services and Hosting & Storage infra have sufficient capacity to deliver services required to meet the business requirements of the Venture.
Subjected Matter Expert on administration, maintaining and troubleshooting of Server operating systems including Windows, Linux, UNIX, ESXI, Photon.
Subjected Matter Expert on administration, maintaining and troubleshooting of Virtualization products vSphere 6.5 plus Operations management, vCenter 6. Esxi 6, Networking and Security NSX, AppDefenser, vRealize Network Insight, vRealize Operations manager, VSAN, Site Recovery Manager, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure – Horizon,
Subjected Matter Expert on administration, maintaining and troubleshooting of Storage products Enterprise & Medium level Storage systems HPE 3PAR, NetAPP, SnapMirror, SnapVault, EMC VNX, Unity, VPLEX, IBM, Brocade, Cisco MDS.
Subjected Matter Expert on administration, maintaining and troubleshooting of Backup & Recovery systems products Veeam Backup & Replication, Veeam Availability Orchestrator for Disaster Recovery, HP Data Protector, Symantec, Networker, Backup Exec, Data Domain, MSL Tape Libraries, HP StoreOnce and VTL.
Subjected Matter Expert on administration, maintaining and troubleshooting of Data Center Perimeter Network - Cisco Nexus 3K, 5K, 7K, 9K, NetScaler and Monitoring tools DCNM, PRTG.
Subjected Matter Expert on Converged and Hyper-Converged infrastructure
Subjected Matter Expert on administration, maintaining and troubleshooting of File Clustered Servers and big Data management, Windows Failover Cluster Manager, File Server Resource Manager, DFS management, Big Data migration.
Provides appropriate status and other reports to team leads, heads and managers. Ensures that operational procedures and working practices are fit for purpose and current.
Oversees the quality of Venture server rooms and informs Line manager about any risk. Cooperate with the relevant Company functions for the timely resolution of any issues.
Coordinates a team of junior staff, taking care of their professional & behavioral development, training plans and performance feedbacks.
Supervising the resolution of critical incidents and special requests assigned by the Line manager.
Being available 24x7 for emergency procedures as power shutdowns, network outages, hardware failures and disaster recovery procedures.
Carry out other responsibilities as assigned by Line Manager that are related to this job.
Qualification & Experience Requirements:
The job holder must hold a Bachelor's Degree in the following areas: Electronic / Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, Automation and Management in IT, Mathematics and Physics, Robotics Engineering.
The job holder must have at least 6 years of experience in supporting IT Operations Back-end Infrastructure in complex environment.
Subject Matter Expert in virtualization technologies based on VMware, Hyper-V.
Subject Matter Expert in Cisco Data Center, Switching & Routing
Subject Matter Expert in Back-end Infrastructure Systems (Virtualization VMware, Blade Servers, Storages SAN, FC, NAS, ISCSI,NFS,CIFS, Tape Libraries, Virtual Infrastructure VSAN, NSX, VDI components, etc.) and Services (Microsoft: AD, DNS, DHCP, Clustering, Print & File, Messaging; HP-UX, Linux, ESX, etc.)
Subject Matter Expert in Citrix NetScaler product (publishing, network balancing).
Certified VMware Certified Advanced Professional 6, Data Center Virtualization Design
Certified on Cisco products Data Center – CCNP Data Center, CCNP Routing & Switching, and CCNP Security.
Certified on Storage products EMC VNX, Unity, NetApp Clustered, HPE 3PAR
Subject Matter Expert in international standards, best practices and frameworks (ISO 270001/2, COBIT, COSO, ITIL, etc.) is an asset.
