Requirements:
Mechanical engineering degree or higher.
6-8 years of upstream oil and gas industry experience, including 4+ years in a mechanical engineering team lead roles.
A minimum 12years of relevant experience is expected for TA-2’s to be assessed for overall discipline
Knowledge in regulatory, procedures and materials for static equipment systems; including Kazakh and International regulations (API, ISO, BS EN, etc). Knowledge of Kazakh and International regulations for hazardous facilities is required in particular.
Experience of static equipment design, fabrication and installation.
Design of low temperature equipment.
Working knowledge of rotating equipment selection.
Experience of driving business improvement in engineering, key words being: technology, fit-for-purpose solutions and cost effectiveness.
Self-starter and pro-active with ability to work effectively unsupervised.
Ability to work in a production environment, representatives of different cultures.
This role has technical authority responsibilities. The holder of this position is expected to have been successfully assessed as a Technical Authority Level-2 as described by the Technical Authority Manual and project specific documents within six months of accepting this position.
Responsibilities:
Establishes and publishes clear priorities aligned to Engineering Manager. Creates objectives and short-term tasks for the team.
Ensures the technical quality of the all Project related Mechanical Engineering work including work from direct reports and indirect contractor reports (FEED contractor).
Motivates a diverse multi-national team with different experiences and values. Encourages a professional culture based on commercial and technical transparency. Establishes individual development plans for national and expatriate staff.
Reviews team work practices, quality and delivery. Propose and facilitate team improvement strategies and changes when required for Project related Mechanical Engineering.
Delegated Mechanical Engineering accountability for all Project related Mechanical Engineering (Static and Rotating Equipment). Develops Team work schedule from PE Managers goals. Executes all work through team. Makes technical decisions using sound engineering judgment, expertise and knowledge.
Applies mechanical engineering best practices, RoK Design regulation, instructions and procedures for offshore with a degree of autonomy.
Assist in the management of technical interfaces with contractors and vendors.
Ensures that the team is adequately resourced in terms of both capacity and capability.
Manages the local Mechanical Engineering skill pool; creates the Mechanical Engineering a) career development ladder, b) the Job Competency Profile c) consolidates the training needs analysis for all Mechanical Engineering staff d) ensure provision of learning and development opportunities to develop Mechanical Engineering staff, by interacting with HR to identify training opportunities and interacting with line management to provide On the Job training.
