Job Accountabilities:
- The role is to be the COMPANY’s onsite Refractory Inspector, inspecting of the lined refractory vessels and ensuring all refractory repair works are performed in accordance with the standards and procedures and the approved Operational Work packs as advised by the COMPANY and “Gouda Vuurvast” manufacturer. The Refractory Inspector is to inspect and monitor the performance of the refractory CONTRACTOR’s activities and liaise with all concerned parties and produce
- Inspection report & reports daily progress on related HSE and operational issues to the COMPANY Site Representative.
- Inspection of internal refractory lining of the vessels, boilers, stacks and piping/pipes Provide reports of findings and recommendations for repair (before repair).
- To monitor CONTRACTOR on site refractory replacement activities, ensuring that they are safely and efficiently executed in accordance with the agreed
- To monitor CONTRACTOR operations to ensure high quality of refractory works andcompliance with the relevant refractory standards/best practices, as well as compliance with COMPANY’s
- To train COMPANY Civil staff for refractory repair proficiency by conduction theoretical training (classroom training before work execution) and OJT on refractory inspection during work
- Be fully familiar with “Gouda Vuurvast” refractory productsand able to develop work method statement for refractory
- To carry out refractory inspection, produce inspection report with recommendations for repair and issue fit-for-purpose statement (after repair).
- Monitoring of CONTRACTOR resources (manning and equipment) levels, reporting of daily progress and highlighting any
- Monitoring of CONTRACTOR’s refractory replacement activities in order to achieve the highest professional quality and safety
- Ensuring all refractory replacement activity complies with “Gouda Vuurvast” recommendation and best
- To develop COMPANY civil staff for SRU refractory repair
- Keeping abreast of new developments and familiarization with technology required for refractory requirements and assisting contractors to comply with any new Shell requirements resulting from such.
Required Competences:
- Minimum: 10 years working experience as a Refractory Supervisor/Superintendent on a SRU
- Minimum: 15 years working experience in refractory field and possess relevant Refractory Supervisor skills or relevant Minimum: fully conversant with all refractory standards/requirements pertaining to the activities referred to in the roles & responsibilities as demonstrated in refractory supervisory role.
- Minimum: able to communicate (both written and spoken) in English
- Minimum: capable of producing reports, audit documents, charts, forms, produce/update internal procedures for refractory, presentations using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Availability of API-936 Certificate, Gouda Refractories training or equivalent refractories certificates will have added
- Knowledge of the “Gouda Vuurvast” refractory products including construction, inspection and maintenance techniques and equipment is desirable.
